This new generation of the French design is establishing itself in the international scene with a committed and optimistic design. For 5.5 designers, the industrial design is not enough considered within the politics of companies. It is nevertheless the key tool
of the necessary revival in the actual context of societal chaos. The system that gave birth to a society of waste, environmental and financial crisis is no longer viable and the end of this round has been announced. New challenges are now known, it remains only
to define the basis for requesting the change to reinvent the way we consume, produce and therefore design. In this great intergenerational project, for which 5.5 designers want to play a role, creativity must be the core of all programs at the expense of the purely mercantile and consumer, which has reached its limits Since 2003, 5.5 designers strive to challenge their status as designers and simply refuse to be spectators of this system which they do not control the rules and they do not want to be responsible. Therefore, for each of their project they try to overcome the stylistic aspect of the objects to focus on the definition of new processes that meet these new challenges. It is therefore an anniversary celebrating the extent of their questioning, with projects both claimants and hopeful. A birthday to show that other models are possible and that the design that won in 5 ½ years many
brands and agencies is only the beginning of a new era...
